Intimacy at the edge
Second Cousins circles the strange distance between knowing someone and actually being chosen by them. The lyric is wounded, sharp and almost smiling in its defiance: the narrator could write the whole story, but refuses to offer the final apology.
“I don’t think they really
love you like I do.”
The soft kick, round sub bass, shimmering plucks and fragile piano echoes hold the track between intimacy and distance. The vocal stays close to the ear while the arrangement slowly opens a larger room around it.
